SNAP Retailers: Do Not Buy Your Store Inventory with SNAP Benefits; This is Trafficking and it is Illegal.
Important SNAP Reminder
Do Not:
- Buy store inventory that someone originally purchased with SNAP benefits.
- Pay someone to use their SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.
- Use someone’s SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.
- Use your own SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.
If You Traffic:
- You will no longer be able to accept SNAP benefits at your store.
- You may face financial penalties.
- You may face criminal charges.
Protect Your License:
- Make sure your store inventory was not paid for with SNAP benefits.
- Know where your store inventory comes from.
- Only buy your store inventory from trusted suppliers.
- Follow all SNAP rules.
Report suspicious and fraudulent activity to the USDA Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
