Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold a public meeting to gather input from interested parties on the Scientific Report of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.

The public is invited to provide input on two separate but complementary reports on the relationship between alcohol and health starting tomorrow. These reports and the public comments received will be considered by HHS and USDA as the two departments collaborate to develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. 

There’s still time to register for the virtual public meeting to hear the public share feedback on the Scientific Report of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.

USDA is sharing the results from its third SFA Survey on Supply Chain Disruptions and Student Participation, which examines school year 2023-24. We are also releasing a new data visualization that compares data from the second and third surveys. 

On Monday, FNS will publish a final rule entitled: “SNAP: Employment and Training Program Monitoring, Oversight, and Reporting Measures.” The rule was posted for Public Inspection on the Federal Register website today.

Today, USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service, is awarding approximately $8.6 million in Team Nutrition Training Grants to 11 states that administer the National School Lunch Program.

USDA’s goal across all summer nutrition programs is simple: Connect children with nutritious food during the summer months to help them grow and thrive. This interim final rule is an important step forward in increasing access to these services.

Did you know there’s a way for children in Medicaid households to be automatically eligible for free and reduced price school meals without their families completing another application? It’s called the Direct Certification with Medicaid Demonstration Project and USDA recently opened applications for more states to participate.  

Applications are now open for the School Food Systems Transformation Challenge Sub-Grants, which is part of USDA’s Healthy Meals Incentives Initiative.  

FNS published a final rule on program integrity to ensure that child nutrition programs are properly operated and managed to protect federal funds and taxpayer dollars.
