FNS Administrator Cndy Long

Cindy Long is the Administrator of the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. Prior to the appointment, Long served as the Deputy Administrator for the FNS Child Nutrition Programs. In that role, she managed federal administration of the child nutrition programs, including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer Food Service Program, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. During her tenure, Long led FNS’ implementation of the most significant restructuring of these programs in a decade.

Long has also served FNS in other roles, including leading FNS regional offices and research and analysis initiatives that support domestic nutrition assistance programs.

She has vast experience in budget and appropriations issues, including several years with the Office of Management and Budget. She also has extensive experience in the private and nonprofit sectors.

Long has a Master of Public Administration in public policy and economics from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame. She has received numerous recognitions and awards, including multiple USDA Honor Awards.
