SNAP Retailers: Do Not Buy Your Store Inventory with SNAP Benefits; This is Trafficking and it is Illegal.

Important SNAP Reminder

Do Not:

  • Buy store inventory that someone originally purchased with SNAP benefits.
  • Pay someone to use their SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.
  • Use someone’s SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.
  • Use your own SNAP benefits to buy store inventory.

If You Traffic:

  • You will no longer be able to accept SNAP benefits at your store.
  • You may face financial penalties.
  • You may face criminal charges.

Protect Your License:

  • Make sure your store inventory was not paid for with SNAP benefits.
  • Know where your store inventory comes from.
  • Only buy your store inventory from trusted suppliers.
  • Follow all SNAP rules.

Report suspicious and fraudulent activity to the USDA Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
