This memorandum includes questions and answers intended to provide clarification to state agencies and program operators as they transition to the upcoming school year. 

This waiver extends the Nationwide Waiver to Extend Area Eligibility Waivers through Aug. 31, 2020 until Sept. 30, 2020, or for the duration of summer operations, whichever is earlier. This waiver extension applies to the Summer Food Service Program and the NSLP Seamless Summer Option.

This waiver extends the nationwide waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children - Extension, granted on May 14, 2020 until Sept. 30, 2020, or for the duration of summer operations, whichever is earlier. This waiver extension applies to the NSLP Seamless Summer Option and the SFSP.

This memorandum provides the total funding amount available to FNS to distribute to state agencies, which is $202.9 million for FY 2021.

This extension of Nationwide Waiver of Onsite Monitoring Requirements in the School Meals Programs – Extension, issued June 8, 2020 to waive the requirements until Aug.  31, 2020 applies to the NSLP and the School Breakfast Program. The onsite monitoring portion of this waiver remains in effect through June 30, 2021.
