In May 2019, FNS reminded state agencies that they may choose to require custodial and non-custodial parents to cooperate with the state Child Support Agency as a condition of eligibility for SNAP and disqualify individuals in arrears for child support. This memorandum provides additional information and considerations for states regarding this option. 

On April 25, 2024, FNS published the final rule, Child Nutrition Programs: Meal Patterns Consistent With the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Among other provisions, this rule finalizes regulations that strengthen the School Meal Programs’ Buy American provision. The Buy American Exceptions Tracking Standard Form is an optional template that school food authorities can use to organize files and document the use of exceptions to purchase non-domestic foods under the Buy American provision. 

This letter serves as notice to all WIC state agencies that effective June 1, 2024, the Secretary of Agriculture has determined that a Supply Chain Disruption exists in WIC state agencies with Gerber infant formula contracts.

In a continued effort to reduce administrative burden and simplify SNAP processes, FNS is extending approval of the address change waiver beyond the unwinding period to support more effective and efficient program administration.

FNS published the Child Nutrition Program Integrity Final Rule and amended regulations at 7 CFR 226.7(b) and 7 CFR 226.10(c) to codify the requirement for an annual reconciliation of bank account activity and accounting of reported actual expenditures with Child and Adult Care Food Program payments. This memorandum provides a summary of each provision and instructions for how to complete the annual verification of bank account activity and actual expenditures.

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide funding allocation amounts for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for all state agencies for FY 2025, including information on funding requirements and deadlines, and a reminder of important program requirements.

This memorandum provides notice to child nutrition program operators regarding Sections 739, 747, 748, 769, and 770 of Division B of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, enacted on March 9, 2024. This memorandum applies to state agencies administering, and local organizations operating, the federal CNPs.

These updates represent continued progress toward supporting the nutrition quality of school meals, strengthening the Child Nutrition Programs, and advancing USDA’s commitment to nutrition security. 

This letter serves as notice to all WIC state agencies that effective May 8, 2024, the Secretary of Agriculture has determined that a Supply Chain Disruption exists in WIC state agencies with Gerber infant formula contracts. The contracted infant formula manufacturer, Gerber, is discontinuing production of their contract brand soy-based powder infant formula, Gerber Good Start Soy.

This letter serves as notice to all WIC state agencies that effective May 8, 2024, the Secretary of Agriculture has determined that a Supply Chain Disruption exists in WIC state agencies with Gerber infant formula contracts. The contracted infant formula manufacturer, Gerber, issued a letter on April 4, 2024, affirming a limited supply of their contract brand powder infant formula, Gerber Good Start SoothePro.
