FNS is working closely with our state and federal partners, SNAP retailers, EBT processors, and other industry experts to protect SNAP benefits and combat SNAP fraud.
Three newsletters have been added to the existing collection of Nibbles for Health: Nutrition Newsletters for Parent of Young Children on the topics of added sugars, sodium, and family meals.
We periodically surveys state agencies administering SNAP about certain options to determine which options are in use. The results of these surveys have been compiled into the State Options Reports. These reports are not a comprehensive reflection of all policy and administrative options available to states.
SNAP state agencies must establish procedures to screen for and apply the general work requirements and ABAWD work requirements and time limit. The SNAP Work Rules Screening Checklists and Flow Chart were developed to assist SNAP state agency staff in determining if an individual is subject to any of the SNAP work requirements.
On Sept. 30, 2023, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act, was signed into law to provide funding for the federal government through Nov. 17, 2023. This memorandum is intended to clarify the impact of the continuing resolution on upcoming SNAP benefit issuance.
On Aug. 31, 2023, FNS awarded approximately $3 million in SNAP Fraud Framework Implementation Grants to support state agency efforts to improve and expand recipient fraud prevention, detection, and investigation efforts using the procedures, ideas and practices outlined in the SNAP Fraud Framework.

At this time, only certain states are operating with online purchasing capabilities. FNS is working with other states interested in expanding online purchasing.
ABAWDs can receive SNAP for only 3 months in a 3-year period if they do not meet certain work requirements. This page includes information on waiver status for states by quarter.
