This fact sheet describes the methods used in the School Nutrition and Meal Cost Study (SNMCS) to collect, process, and analyze data to assess plate waste in the school meal programs.

The School Nutrition and Meal Cost Study was a comprehensive study of the school meal programs. This fact sheet provides an overview of the design and implementation of the SNMCS, including the research objectives, sample design, data collection approach, and response rates. 

This page contains a factsheet for CSFP program staff and a flyer for CSFP program customers on how to properly handle, store, and distribute USDA Foods cheese in the CSFP program.  

The FMNP is associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, generally known as WIC. The WIC program provides supplemental foods, health care referrals and nutrition education; including, breastfeeding promotion and support at no cost to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to 5 years of age, who are found to be at nutritional risk.

These handouts provide general recommendations on handwashing, cleaning, and disinfecting, to operators of USDA Foods household programs including CSFP, TEFAP, and FDPIR. 

This sharing gallery page  contains cookbooks and recipes that specifically target participants of CSFP and older adults.  Resources have been developed by non-profit organizations, State agencies, and the USDA.

USDA estimates that in 2019, there were 22,000 active duty service members in households that received SNAP. Another 213,000 members of the Reserves/National Guard lived in households that received SNAP.
