FNS has a long history of helping to end hunger, reduce diet-related diseases, and accelerate health equity. This report explains who we are, who we serve and highlights key work underway.
This report summarizes how the USDA is leveraging its existing authorities, resources and touchpoints to support nutrition security with a primary focus on activities from the FNCS mission area. We look forward to working with stakeholders to achieve this vision through improving diet quality, strengthening the public health impacts of the federal nutrition assistance programs and advancing racial equity.
Authorized under the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, the Summer EBT for Children demonstrations rigorously test and evaluate the extent to which the use of electronic benefits technologies can be used to reduce food insecurity among children eligible for assistance through the National School Lunch and Summer Food Service programs.
