The term "Alternate Protein Product" is the name used by FNS to identify products meeting requirements set forth in Appendix A of the NSLP, SBP, SFSP, and the CACFP within the section entitled Alternate Protein Products.

This memorandum informs stakeholders on the progress made by FNS in updating the food crediting system for all child nutrition programs. On Dec. 1, 2014, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration published the final rule, Food Labeling; Calorie Labeling of Articles of Food in Vending Machines, in the Federal Register.
The purpose of this memorandum is to notify WIC state agencies that the monthly value of the cash value voucher for fruits and vegetables for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women will increase from $10 to $11 beginning in FY 2016 on Oct. 1, 2015.
