Webinar on the SNAP eHIP cooperative agreement project presented in February 2023

The Healthy Fluid Milk Incentive project was established by the 2018 Farm Bill to promote milk as part of a healthy, balanced diet consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  

This information s for market managers to help them attract SNAP customers to their markets.

The findings described in this webinar are based on two analyses. One that estimated the percentage of daily and weekly lunch menus that met the updated nutrition standards, and another that examined the nutritional quality of the lunches using the Healthy Eating Index-2010.

To address this problem, the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008, also known as the 2008 Farm Bill, authorized funds for pilot projects to evaluate health and nutrition promotion in SNAP to determine if incentives provided to SNAP recipients at the point of sale increase the consumption of fruits, vegetables, or other healthful foods. On the basis of this legislative authority, USDA designed the Healthy Incentive Pilot (HIP).
