This policy memorandum transmits changes from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights regarding the appropriate nondiscrimination statement to use on Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) materials.
The purpose of this policy memorandum is to clarify the WIC regulatory requirement that WIC state agencies must coordinate with the state Medicaid program for the provision of exempt infant formulas and medical foods.
This policy memorandum is being issued in response to the fiscal year 2013 audit by USDA’s Office of Inspector General, state agencies’ Food Costs for the FNS WIC Program.
The purpose of this memorandum is to notify WIC state agencies that the monthly value of the cash value voucher for fruits and vegetables for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women will increase from $10 to $11 beginning in FY 2016 on Oct. 1, 2015.

The USDA announces adjusted income eligibility guidelines to be used by state agencies in determining the income eligibility of persons applying to participate in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children Program. These income eligibility guidelines are to be used in conjunction with the WIC Regulations.
This rule increases the amount of cash value vouchers from $8.00 to $10.00 issued to pregnant, postpartum and partially breastfeeding women participants for the purchase of fruits and vegetables as part of the WIC food packages.
The final rule entitled Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC): Vendor Cost Containment was published on Oct. 8, 2009. The Office of Management and Budget cleared the associated information collection requirements (ICR) on Nov. 2, 2009. This document announces approval of the ICR.
