This notice announces the surplus and purchased commodities that USDA expects to make available for donation to states for use in providing nutrition assistance to the needy under TEFAP in FY 2008. The commodities made available under this notice must, at the discretion of the state, be distributed to eligible recipient agencies for use in preparing meals and/or for distribution to households for home consumption.

This notice invites state and local agencies involved in the administration of The Emergency Food Assistance Program and the general public to comment on the intent of the Department to modify the data sources used to calculate the formula for allocating TEFAP commodities and administrative funds among state agencies.

This notice announces the Food and Nutrition Service's intent to continue to provide processors with an opportunity to participate in a demonstration project to test program changes in the State processing program. In the demonstration project, selected processors will be allowed to substitute donated beef and pork supplied by the Department of Agriculture (the Department, or USDA) with commercial beef and pork.
