The Summer Food Service Program for Children: 2016 Nutrition Guide for Sponsors was developed to help sponsors plan and serve menus with a variety of foods and beverages rich in nutrients, and operate a safe and successful food service. This guide offers menu planning and nutrition guidance along with sample breakfast, lunch, and snack menus. Also included are food service record-keeping requirements, food buying and storage information, and food safety and sanitation guidance.

Authorized under the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, the Summer EBT for Children demonstrations rigorously test and evaluate the extent to which the use of electronic benefits technologies can be used to reduce food insecurity among children eligible for assistance through the National School Lunch and Summer Food Service programs.

Parts of this memorandum have been rescinded by SFSP 01-2019: Summer Food Service Program Memoranda Rescission, Oct. 11, 2018. Rescinded policy has been struck through.

Policy Memorandum FD-126 provides clarification on 7 CFR 251.10(e)(2)(i). This memorandum outlines the method state agencies should use to monitor eligible recipient agencies' expenditures of TEFAP administrative funds.  

The purpose of this memorandum is to address recent inquiries on the application of the geographic preference option in the procurement of unprocessed locally grown or raised agricultural products.

This memo provides additional information regarding the Central Valley Meat investigation described in memorandum SP43 CACFP22 SFSP16- 2012.

TEFAP state agencies must efficiently manage their resources to meet federal monitoring requirements and promote program integrity. This policy memorandum clarifies the requirements for state agencies to review eligible 4ecipient agencies that receive TEFAP foods and/or administrative funds.

This purpose of this policy memorandum is to clarify that state agencies must maintain lists of all Eligible Recipient Agencies (ERAs) that have an agreement with the state or with another ERA to participate in TEFAP.

This memorandum has been superseded by SP 10-2015, CACFP 04, SFSP 03-2015: Area Eligibility in Child Nutrition Programs.

This memorandum is being released on the direction of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2012 (PL 112-255), Conference Report 112-284. This policy memo clarifies the TEFAP regulations at 7 CFR Part 251.5(b).
