The Focus
SNAP E&T finances and funding streams are complicated. This complexity often leads to confusion, errors, and funds left on the table. And yet, states have the opportunity to unlock the potential of their SNAP E&T programs through a strong financial management strategy.
SNAP Office of Employment and Training (OET) in collaboration with FNS Grants and Fiscal Policy Division is pleased to host a State Academy centered on equipping and empowering states to succeed in all aspects of the SNAP E&T financial lifecycle. Participating states will learn best practices and strategies for planning and budgeting, spending and tracking funds, and supporting all partners and providers in the effective management of program finances.
The People
In early December 2024, OET will publish a Call for Applications, inviting all states to apply for the 2025 State Academy. This event is geared toward state SNAP E&T staff and key budget or fiscal state personnel. OET will select 20 state teams (up to 5 people each) to participate in the Academy. Selection decisions will be finalized by February 2025.
OET is partnering with Mathematica, contractor for the SNAP to Skills project, to produce the 2025 State Academy.
The Event
The 2025 State Academy will take place on Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5, 2025, at The Alexandrian, an Autograph Collection Hotel in the heart of beautiful Old Town Alexandria, VA. FNS will support travel costs for state personnel by providing additional funds through the state exchange process.
The Academy will be two full days of plenary learning sessions complemented by breakout sessions focused on specialized topics and small-group technical assistance workshops for state teams with experts in SNAP E&T finances.
