The USDA’s FNS today announced it is seeking applications for a $5 million competitive grant to help expand the number of retailers that offer SNAP online shopping.

USDA announced that low-income New Mexico residents in five counties (Colfax, Lincoln, Mora, San Miguel and Valencia) recovering from the wildfires that started on April 6, 2022, could be eligible for support from D-SNAP.

Today, HHS Administration for Children and Families Assistant Secretary January Contreras and the USDA Deputy Under Secretary Stacy Dean participated in a family enrollment event for both the Head Start early care and education program and benefits for food purchases through SNAP with the Los Angeles County Office of Education

FNS announced today that it will interpret the prohibition on discrimination based on sex found in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and in the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, as amended, SNAP to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. 

FNS announced that $5 million in competitive grants are being made available to enhance efficiency and access in SNAP through process and technology improvements.

FNS today reflected on its efforts over the past year to ensure households across the country have access to a nutritious diet. Throughout the first year of the Biden-Harris Administration, FNS bolstered its nutrition assistance programs through a wide range of administrative actions and with the unprecedented $12 billion investment in food assistance provided by the American Rescue Plan Act.

USDA announced today that low-income Colorado residents in parts of Boulder County affected by the wildfires that started on December 30 could be eligible for a helping hand from the USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP).
