USDA Approved Certification of Compliance Tools and Software

The following tools and software are approved by USDA for use in certification of compliance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) meal pattern requirements.

School districts can use USDA’s certification worksheets and Prototype Attestation Statement to certify both their breakfast and lunch menus for the additional performance based reimbursement. The meal pattern assessment software listed below are also approved by USDA for use in certification of compliance with the NSLP meal pattern requirements. These are the only tools currently authorized to certify schools as eligible for the additional performance-based reimbursement.

Meal pattern assessment software will not be evaluated or approved by USDA for the breakfast meal pattern. However, state agencies may authorize the use of the breakfast functionality of software currently approved by USDA for certification of compliance with NSLP meal pattern requirements.

School districts can use the USDA-approved nutrient analysis software for the nutrient analysis portion of the:

• Certification for the additional performance-based reimbursement for lunch under Option 1; and
• Certification for the additional performance-based reimbursement for breakfast.

Many of the software approved for meal pattern assessment are also approved for nutrient analysis.
