SNAP provides vital support to eligible low-income families in need of nutrition assistance. Some low-income families may be eligible for SNAP but do not participate because they do not know how to access benefits, where to apply, or are intimidated by the application process. Improvements to program access help decrease these barriers and can lead to increased food security among low-income families.
