SUBJECT:SFMNP Policy Memorandum #2024-1:
Publication of the 2024-2025 Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) Income Eligibility Guidelines
TO:Regional Directors
Special Nutrition Programs
SFMNP State Agency Directors
All State Agencies

This policy memorandum transmits the 2024-2025 Income Eligibility Guidelines (IEGs) for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

Income eligibility for the SFMNP is determined using income standards as prescribed under 7 CFR 249.6(a)(3) of the SFMNP regulations. The income limit is 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, as adjusted. Guidelines are revised annually to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index. The annual revision for 2024 was published by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) at 88 FR 3424, on Jan. 17, 2024.

SFMNP state agencies are strongly encouraged to implement the updated IEGs immediately or as soon as practicable to align with Medicaid and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). Since SFMNP is a seasonal program, state agencies that wait to implement the revised IEGs may result in participants being certified to participate in the program based on different income eligibility guidelines.

A supplemental chart is also attached for SFMNP state agencies to use in determining the annual, monthly, twice-monthly, biweekly, and weekly income limits. There is also a chart for families greater than eight.
