This report responds to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (PL 116-260, HR 116-446), which directs the FNS to provide a report on the amount of added sugars in school meals. This report highlights the proportion of meals and competitive foods that would meet an added sugars standard consistent with the 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), i.e., that no more than 10 percent of calories from the meal or competitive food item come from added sugars. The report was submitted to Congress on July 14, 2022.
