On Aug. 13, 2021, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) awarded approximately $16.5 million in SNAP Non-Competitive Grants for States Using Third Party Income Databases for Verification to support state agency efforts to gather the required data for the purpose of evaluating states’ usage of third party income databases.

FNS awarded the SNAP Grants for States Using Third Party Income Databases for Verification to fund 19 state agency evaluation efforts:

- Colorado Department of Human Services
- Illinois Department of Human Services
- Kentucky Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
- Minnesota State of Minnesota
- Mississippi Department of Human Services
- Missouri Department of Social Services Family Support Division
- Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services
- Nevada Department of Health and Human Services
- North Carolina State of North Carolina
- North Dakota Department of Human Services
- New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services
- Washington State Department of Social and Health Services
- West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
- Wisconsin Department of Health Services
- Wyoming Department of Family Services
These one-year grants will support states’ gathering of information about how, when, and to what effect states use third party income databases to verify earned income and the cost for these services. FNS will use this foundational information to pursue a national level contract in the future.
