Today, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced sweeping new efforts to strengthen school meals by connecting more American farmers with local schools, investing in school kitchen infrastructure, and giving states and school districts new tools to serve healthier, more nutrient-dense meals to America’s children.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins today announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a final rule implementing the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, restoring whole and reduced-fat (2%) milk options in federal child nutrition programs for children and adults ages 2 and older.

Rollins, at Faith and Fellowship Tuesday at the Great American Farmers Market, alongside Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins, and USDA Senior Advisor on Faith and Community Outreach Dr. Alveda King, issued a statement reaffirming the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s steadfast commitment to protecting and upholding religious liberties in all public engagements and federally administered programs.

USDA announced that people recovering from severe storms may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Over 11,100 households in 14 counties in Arkansas are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

In response to the catastrophic flooding across Central Texas, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins continues to direct the USDA's activation of comprehensive disaster response and recovery resources. 

In the event of an emergency or disaster, USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service provides assistance in collaboration with a wide range of partners. Rod Bain reports.

Approximately 11,500 households in 13 counties in Kentucky are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.

Today U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services John Walk engaged in formal consultation with Tribal Nations on the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations.  The consultation continues USDA’s practice of regular government-to-government dialogue on this important nutrition program.

Nearly 3,000 households in four counties in West Virginia are estimated to be eligible for this relief to help with grocery expenses.
