Today, USDA's Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services is taking steps to end government inefficiencies by issuing a stern warning to state agencies administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, demanding immediate action to address unacceptable delays in processing applications and recertifications.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins today directed FNS to immediately clarify and enforce all rules restricting its beneficiaries to U.S. citizens and legal residents only. 

USDA today released the following statement regarding the Government Accountability Office’s review of former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas J. Vilsack’s choice to modify the longstanding SNAP obligation practice.

USDA announced that people recovering from the impact of recent wildfires and straight-line winds may be eligible for food assistance through USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
