Replacement of Stolen Benefits
Statutory authority to replace stolen benefits expired on Dec. 20, 2024, thus SNAP benefits stolen on or after Dec. 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement using federal funds.
Contact your state agency to report stolen SNAP benefits.
Households have 30 calendar days after the state has started their plan (Aug. 24, 2023) to submit a retroactive claim. If the claim form is accessed on the 30th calendar day, you have 10 more calendar days to return the form to the state. Submit regular claims within 10 calendar days of discovering theft. Submit claims by phone, in-person, mail, email, fax; or household may choose to have an interview (in-person or by phone) with a Self-Reliance Specialist. The state has 10 calendar days to validate the claim.
Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 10 calendar days after date of claim submission. You must replace your card.

Households have 45 calendar days after the state has started their plan (July 14, 2023) to make an initial report of theft for a retroactive claim. The state will then mail the claim form and you have 30 calendar days to return the form. For regular claims, report theft within 45 calendar days of date of theft. The state will mail a claim form within 10 calendar days and you have 30 calendar days to return the form. Report theft by phone, mail, email, or in-person at local offices. Submit claims by mail, fax, email, or in-person at local offices. The state has 30 calendar days to validate the claim.
Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 5 calendar days after the date a Notice of Decision is mailed to the household. You must your card.
