Replacement of Stolen Benefits

Statutory authority to replace stolen benefits expired on Dec. 20, 2024, thus SNAP benefits stolen on or after Dec. 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement using federal funds.

Contact your state agency to report stolen SNAP benefits.

Households have 30 calendar days after the state has started their plan (July 10, 2023) to submit a retroactive claim. Report theft within 30 calendar days of discovering and submit a claim form within 30 more calendar days. Report theft by phone. Submit claims by mail, online, or in-person at local offices. The state has 5 calendar days to validate the claim.

Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 5 calendar days after date of claim submission. You must replace your card.

The state will contact households who previously reported theft and you have 90 calendar days after notice to submit a retroactive claim. Other households will have 90 calendar days after the state has started their plan (June 16, 2023) to submit a retroactive claim. Submit regular claims within 90 calendar days of theft date. Submit claims by mail, fax, email, or in-person at local offices (physical signatures only). The state has 30 calendar days to validate the claim.
