Incident: Typhoon Hagibis

Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)
  • On Oct. 18, 2019, FNS approved a request from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) to extend the ten (10) day requirement up to thirty (30) days, or by Nov. 6, 2019, for NAP recipients on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. This approval allows NAP recipients to request the replacement of NAP coupons and/or food that was purchased with NAP coupons destroyed as a result of Typhoon Hagibis, that passed through the Marianas on Oct. 7-8, 2019. FNS approved the extension of the reporting period to Nov. 6, 2019.

Incident: Typhoon Yutu

Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)
  • On Nov. 29, 2018 FNS approved CNMI’s request to extend D-NAP operations. This approval extends the application period through Dec. 8, and approves a revised issuance schedule for ongoing NAP participants. This approval also allows NAP and D-NAP households to purchase hot foods for immediate consumption with benefits through Jan. 31, 2019. Local coupons may also be used to purchase imported, eligible foods through Jan. 31, 2019.
  • On Nov. 9, 2018, FNS approved CNMI's request to implement a Disaster Nutrition Assistance Program (D-NAP) to serve households that reside in the Northern Islands of Saipan and Tinian. D-NAP applications will be accepted on Tinian for 7 days, beginning on Nov. 15 through Nov. 21, 2018. D-NAP applications will be accepted on Saipan for 7 days, beginning on Nov. 25 through Dec. 1, 2018.
  • FNS also approved CNMI's request to allow NAP and D-NAP households to purchase hot foods for immediate consumption with benefits through Dec. 31, 2018. Local coupons may also be used to purchase imported, eligible foods through Dec. 31, 2018.

 

Incident: Typhoon Mangkhut

When: Sept. 10, 2018

Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)
  • On Oct. 16, 2018, FNS approved CNMI's request to implement a D-NAP on the Island of Rota. D-NAP applications will be accepted from Oct. 22-26, 2018.
  • On Sept. 26, 2018, FNS approved CNMI’s request to extend the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement of food purchased with NAP benefits due to loss caused by Typhoon Mangkhut. Households on the Island of Rota had until Oct. 10, 2018, to report NAP food loss and request replacement benefits.
