The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) serves children and adults in care settings and relies on strong program integrity to ensure federal resources are used appropriately and reach eligible participants.
Program integrity helps ensure that CACFP funds are used as intended and that participating child care centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers operate in accordance with program requirements. Maintaining strong accountability and oversight is essential to preserving public trust in the program.
To support these efforts, the Food and Nutrition Administration (FNA) has taken steps to strengthen accountability, improve program integrity, and safeguard Federal funds. FNA has developed a variety of resources to assist State agencies and program operators in administering CACFP effectively, preventing fraud, waste, and abuse, and ensuring compliance with program requirements
