As part of the federal response to pandemics, emergencies, or disasters FNS plays a vital role by responding to nutrition assistance needs. Through our state and local partners, FNS is working to ensure that children and low-income Americans maintain access to food. 

Clarification of Allowable Flexibilities for Child Nutrition Programs Experiencing Milk Supply Shortages

FNS is aware that schools in multiple states are experiencing milk supply chain challenges related to packaging issues. This memorandum provides state agencies with information about existing authority related to schools and other child nutrition program operators experiencing inadequate milk supply. FNS encourages state agencies to use this authority when needed to support program operators impacted by the current milk packaging challenges. 

Summer EBT Administrative Funding Guidance Webinar

On Oct. 26, 2023, FNS held a webinar providing an overview of the memo SEBT 01-2024, FM 01-2024, Summer EBT Administrative Funding Guidance for States and ITOs. This webinar provided specific information on the process by which administrative funding was provided to operate the program in fiscal year 2024.
