This information is for manufacturers submitting food product information within GS1 Global Data Synchronization Network (GS1 GDSN®) for products to be included in the USDA Child Nutrition Database (CNDB).

This updated memorandum provides guidance to Indigenous communities on incorporating traditional Indigenous foods that meet CNP meal pattern requirements and includes an updated and expanded list of traditional Indigenous foods that credit the same as similar foods currently listed in the Food Buying Guide for child nutrition programs.
FNS has a variety of resources to assist CNP operators in determining how traditional Indigenous foods may contribute toward a reimbursable meal.
