The Dietary Pattern for the Dietary Guidelines for Americans serves as a flexible framework that supports cultural traditions, personal preferences, and different lifestyles to enable policymakers, programs, health professionals, and Americans at any stage of life customize and enjoy whole, healthy, and nutritious foods.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans is jointly issued and updated every 5 years by the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services. The Dietary Guidelines is used to inform the development of Federal food, nutrition, and health policies and programs and provides advice on healthy eating for the public.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030 was released on Jan. 7, 2026. This is the 10th edition of the Dietary Guidelines.
