Login.gov Identity Verification

If required by the application, the user may need to complete a one-time identity verification to convert the account into a trusted account (i.e., previously known as Level 2), when logging in for the first time.

There are two methods available to verify your identity:

Verify your identity online with Login.gov.

You will need to:

  • Upload a photo/scan of your driver's license or state ID card. Please review the Login.gov Accepted Identification Documents for more information.  If you do not have a state issued ID you may need to verify your identity in person.
  • Enter your Social Security number.
  • Enter your primary phone number. If Login.gov can’t verify the phone number, your address can be verified by mail instead. This takes approximately 5-10 business days.
  • Once your identity is verified, re-enter your Login.gov password. Take note of your personal key and enter on the next page.
  • Once the process is complete, click “Agree and Continue” to be redirected back to the application.
