Replacement of Stolen Benefits
Statutory authority to replace stolen benefits expired on Dec. 20, 2024, thus SNAP benefits stolen on or after Dec. 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement using federal funds.
Contact your state agency to report stolen SNAP benefits.
Households have 45 calendar days after the state has started their plan (July 14, 2023) to submit a retroactive claim. Submit regular claims within 45 calendar days of date of theft. Submit claims by phone, mail, email, or in-person at local offices. The state has 10 business days after report of loss, or 2 business days after claim submission (whichever is later) to validate the claim.
Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 10 business days after report of loss or 2 business days after claim submission (whichever is later). You must replace your card.

Report theft within 30 calendar days of discovering and submit claim form within 10 more calendar days. Report theft by phone, mail, or in-person at local offices. Submit claims by phone, mail, fax, online, or in-person at local offices. The state has 10 business days to validate the claim.
Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 5 business days after claim approval. You must replace your card.

Households who previously reported theft will receive a mailed claim form and have 10 calendar days after receipt to submit a retroactive claim. Households who have not previously reported theft have 30 calendar days after the state has started their plan (June 21, 2023) to report theft and 10 calendar days after report to submit a retroactive claim form. Report theft within 30 calendar days of discovering and submit regular claim form within 10 calendar days after report. Report theft by phone, mail, or in-person at local offices. Submit claims by mail or in-person at local offices. The state has 60 calendar days after date of initial report to validate the claim.
Benefit Availability: Benefits for approved claims are issued within 60 calendar days after initial report. You must replace your card.
