Participant household income as a percentage of federal poverty guidelines, 2020

Notes: Percents may not add to 100.0 because of rounding. Poverty guideline calculations were based on computed annualized income and size of family or economic unit, as compared with the Federal Poverty Guidelines issued by HHS for fiscal year 2020. Income thresholds for the Federal Poverty Guidelines are higher for Alaska and Hawaii than for all other State agencies. Because Medicaid permits recipients to have income equal to or greater than 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, it is possible some WIC participant household incomes exceed this threshold. Households missing the number of people in the household or economic unit were excluded from the figure because income as a percentage of the Federal Poverty Guidelines could not be calculated without that information. Participants with missing race or ethnicity were also excluded from the figure.
